Hi everyone!
Thank you for your interest in The Talismans of Teregrin and for your support for me as an author. This is my first newsletter, so bear with me while I sort out the kinks. For this one, I’m going to introduce myself, hit the big news, and provide some updates on my progress with the series. In the future, I might throw a sneak peek of what’s coming down the road in too. If there’s something you’d like me to talk about, though, please ask! I’d be happy to add the topic or answer a question in the next letter or post.
So, let’s get started!
About me:
I’m an INFJ coffee addict who talks to herself, has seriously crazy dreams, and tends to require a certain degree of pressure to get anything done. My high school valedictorian speech? Written two hours before I gave it. I’ve been married to a wonderful guy for almost twelve years, and we have two adorable boys. The oldest is almost six. He has a couple of genetic disorders and requires full-time care, so that’s my day job…and my night job. I’m on call 24/7. The youngest is almost four, and he’s a handful in his own way. But we love them both to pieces.
I’ve been a writer for a really long time and a storyteller before that. I loved making up stories similar to the ones I read back when I was just learning to write and had absolutely atrocious spelling. Hey, I had comps down before I even knew about them! I credit my dad a little for that one. When he read me bedtime stories, he’d change them around to make them funnier. I think that’s one of the reasons I love reading and creating so much.
I worked as a junior high and high school English teacher for seven years in Thailand, Colorado, and North Carolina. I miss the student interaction, hanging out with other teachers, and sharing my passion…but I don’t miss the grading or the crazy stress. Here’s hoping the whole professional author thing pays off (*fingers crossed*), ha ha.
My YA science fantasy series THE TALISMANS of TEREGRIN is being published by Future House Publishing. Book one, with the same name, releases next week!
News:
THE TALISMANS of TEREGRIN will debut on June 9, 2023. After some delays with the cover, we are charging full speed ahead, and I’m working hard to get everything ready for a successful launch.
Gorgeous, right? This cover was worth the wait. Having Gemma, my FMC, pictured on the front was such a cool thing, to see her brought to life. And check out that background too! The art team really did a fantastic job with the details. I’m thinking we might get to see Oliver, my MMC, on the cover for book two. Links should be going out this week via Future House Publishing’s email list for the ARC books. If you signed up but didn’t receive the email, or if you’d still like to be an ARC reader, I have the link too. Send me a DM over social media, and I’d be happy to include you. The book is available for preorder (ebook only) on Amazon at a special launch price of $0.99. Paperback copies will be available to order on the release date, June 9! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4X5JK61 I’m also a Goodreads author now. You can find the book and add it to your Want to Read here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/152196819-the-talismans-of-teregrin?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=AFIx99DMeC&rank=1 And finally, FHP is also offering a free peek at the first three chapters if you sign up for their newsletter: https://www.futurehousepublishing.com/newsletter Updates: Book two in the series, THE FIREBREATHER'S CURSE, just finished developmental edits and has been resubmitted to FHP and my editor for substantive edits. No publishing date yet, but these next rounds of edits moved pretty quickly with Talismans, so I expect it will follow in the next few months. Book three, THE MENACE of the MORPHERS, has gone through a beta read, and editing for that feedback is my next task once I get through the launch. I’m expecting a couple passes before that is submitted to FHP too. This might be my favorite book in the series, so I’m pretty excited to work on it again. Book four…Oh, book four. Originally, the Talismans series was four books, but I went for a big epic finale, so now it’s being split into books four and five. I have my work cut out for me on this front. I have them split and outlined, but I need to add chapters, change chapters, elaborate on some scenes, and do a whole heap of editing in both books. Questions? I think that’s it for now. I’m about to start asking stores and libraries to stock book one and (hopefully) schedule some book signings. I’ll keep you posted. Let me know if you have any questions or topics you’d like me to include next time. Thank you! Katy Metzger
